FAQ
How many CE hours do Missouri PAs need?
Missouri does not impose a standalone CE hour requirement separate from NCCPA certification maintenance. PAs must maintain active NCCPA certification as a condition of licensure.[1] NCCPA requires 100 CME credits per 2-year cycle, with at least 50 in Category 1. Third-party CE providers often cite 50 hours of Category 1 as the Missouri PA requirement, which reflects the NCCPA minimum for that credit type.
Are there mandatory CE topics for PAs in Missouri?
Missouri does not mandate specific CE topics for PA license renewal. PAs who hold DEA registration must complete a one-time 8-hour training on substance use disorders and opioid treatment under the federal MATE Act, but this is a federal requirement rather than a state one. PAs seeking or holding controlled substance prescriptive authority must complete initial training in advanced pharmacology and supervised clinical practice, though there is no ongoing topic-specific CE mandate for maintaining that authority.[2]
Where can I check my Missouri PA license renewal date?
Missouri PA licenses are managed by the Board of Registration for the Healing Arts at pr.mo.gov. All PA licenses expire on January 31 of the renewal year, with renewals due before that date. The Board mails renewal notices at least 30 days before expiration, but PAs are responsible for renewing on time even if a notice is not received.[3] Applications postmarked February 1 or later are considered delinquent.
