ARNPs with prescriptive authority must complete 15 additional CE hours in pharmacology per biennial ARNP renewal period

ARNPs licensed to prescribe opioids in Washington
“In order to prescribe an opioid in Washington state, an advanced registered nurse practitioner licensed to prescribe opioids shall complete a one-time continuing education requirement regarding best practices in the prescribing of opioids.”
Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) accepts ANCC Contact Hour toward the CE requirement for NPs, along with other credit it approves.

Washington ARNP renewal is biennial (by birthday), distinct from the RN annual renewal cycle. ARNPs renew every two years; RNs renew every year.
