ANCC contact hours from accredited providers qualify if content is controlled-substance-related (for the 5-hr mandate).
Documentation & audit

APRN renewal cycle (State Certification Period): 2 calendar years beginning Jan 1 of each odd year, ending Dec 31 of each even year.

Waivers & exemptions

APRNs graduating from an accredited master's degree or higher APRN program within the past 2 years are exempt from the controlled substances CE requirement for their first renewal only.

FAQ
How many state-level CE hours do Mississippi CRNAs need?
Mississippi APRNs (including CRNAs) must complete 5 contact hours of CE directly related to controlled substances per biennial State Certification Period (Jan 1 odd year – Dec 31 even year). The old 40-hour total / 10-hour controlled-substance requirement was under Part 2815, which was repealed in February 2020. APRN renewal additionally requires active NBCRNA national certification.
Does Mississippi require NBCRNA certification for CRNA licensure?
Yes. NBCRNA initial certification is required for APRN/CRNA licensure, and active NBCRNA certification must be maintained for renewal.
Is Mississippi part of the APRN Compact?
No. Mississippi has not enacted the APRN Compact as of 2026. Mississippi is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for the RN portion only.
Where can I check my Mississippi CRNA license renewal date?
License status and verification are available through MSBN Gateway at gateway.msbn.ms.gov/datamart/login.do.
