Accepted credit

Credit must come from an organization accredited by the ACCME, AMA, New York Medical Association, or AAFP. ACGME residency or fellowship time accrues toward the requirement. Teaching or presenting accredited CME can satisfy a portion of required hours.

How many CE hours do New York podiatrists need?
50 hours over a three-year registration cycle (1.4 hours per registered month). At least 35 must be in podiatric medicine and surgery; up to 15 may be in health sciences, ethics, or risk management. A maximum of 25 home study credits applies per cycle.
Are APMA-approved credits accepted in New York?
Courses pre-approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) automatically qualify. APMA-approved CME, which is CPME-accredited, qualifies on that basis. All other sponsors must submit applications 90 days before course commencement.
Are there mandatory CE topics for DPM renewal in New York?
The New York podiatry rule does not impose state-level topic mandates beyond the 35/15 split between podiatric content and adjacent areas. Federal MATE Act training applies to DEA-registered podiatrists.
