Documentation & audit

Physicians are responsible for retaining CME documentation and producing it on request. Requirements include course title, dates, hours, sponsoring organization, and accrediting body.

Waivers & exemptions

Any practitioner fully retired from the practice of podiatric medicine is exempt from CE requirements; upon resuming practice, the individual must fulfill CE hours that have accrued from the effective date of retirement to the time of resumption of practice.

Non-resident podiatrists holding an Oklahoma license but not actively practicing in Oklahoma may substitute approved CE hours from their state of practice as long as the qualifications are equal to or greater than Oklahoma's.

FAQ
How many CE hours do Oklahoma podiatrists need?
60 hours every 2 years, of which at least 30 hours must be obtained in the State of Oklahoma (Okla. Admin. Code § 545:20-3-1). The 24-month window runs from July 1 of an even-numbered year to June 30 of the next even-numbered year.
Are APMA-approved credits accepted in Oklahoma?
Yes. Any program approved by the Council on Continuing Education of the American Podiatric Medical Association is presumptively approved by the Board for hours actually attended (§ 545:20-3-3(a)). Correspondence and internet courses approved by the APMA Council are also accepted, capped at 10 hours per renewal period.
Are there mandatory CE topics for DPM renewal in Oklahoma?
Subchapter 3 does not impose specific topical hour mandates within the 60-hour total. The 30-hour in-state requirement is the principal structural mandate. Federal MATE Act training applies to DEA-registered podiatrists.
Where can I check my Oklahoma podiatry license renewal date?
Oklahoma podiatry licensee search is available at okpodiatrists.org/search. Renewal is handled through the Board's office. The Board's contact is 405-962-1400.
