FAQ
How many state-level CE hours do South Carolina CRNAs need?
SC uses an option-based competency rule. Licensees demonstrate competency by completing any one of: 30 contact hours of CE, national certification/recertification, an academic program in nursing or a related field, or employer competency verification. CRNAs typically satisfy the rule via NBCRNA recertification (option 2), which also satisfies the APRN Consensus Model's national certification requirement. CE is tracked through CE Broker.
Does South Carolina require NBCRNA certification for CRNA licensure?
Yes. SC APRN-CRNA licensure requires current NBCRNA national certification, both at initial application and on a continuing basis under the Consensus Model.
Is South Carolina part of the APRN Compact?
No, SC has not enacted the APRN Compact as of April 2026. SC is, however, a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for the underlying RN license.
Where can I check my SC CRNA license renewal date?
Use the SC LLR license verification tool at https://verify.llronline.com/LicLookup/Nursing/Nursing.aspx or contact the Board at nurseboard@llr.sc.gov / (803) 896-4550.
