FAQ
How many CE hours do Arizona podiatrists need?
Twenty-five (25) hours per year, on an annual renewal cycle, with the CE year running July 1 – June 30. A.R.S. § 32-829(A) is the controlling authority. DEA-registered podiatrists must include at least 3 hours of opioid/SUD CE within the 25 annual hours under A.R.S. § 32-3248.02. Up to 10 of the 25 hours may be self-study (internet, CD-ROM, journals).
Are APMA-approved credits accepted in Arizona?
Yes — APMA / CPME-approved CME falls within the Board's accepted scope of "Board approved continuing education courses or programs" under A.R.S. § 32-829(A). The Board also accepts hands-on courses in podiatric assessment, surgical techniques, wound care, practice management, ethics, and clinical topics such as diabetes, pharmacology, and geriatrics.
Are there mandatory CE topics for DPM renewal in Arizona?
Yes. DEA-registered podiatrists must complete 3 hours of opioid-related, substance-use disorder, or addiction-related CME each renewal cycle under A.R.S. § 32-3248.02. There are no other state-imposed mandatory topics (no abuse reporting, no human trafficking, no jurisprudence). The federal MATE Act adds a one-time 8-hour SUD training for DEA registrants, separate from Arizona's recurring 3-hour rule.
Where can I check my Arizona podiatry license renewal date?
The Arizona Board of Podiatry Examiners maintains license verification and renewal information at podiatry.az.gov/resources/renew. CE Broker (cebroker.com/az) also displays renewal information for any Arizona podiatrist who has activated a free Basic account.
