FAQ
How many CE hours do Kentucky podiatrists need?
Twenty (20) hours per year, on an annual renewal cycle with the CE year running July 1 – June 30. Of the 20 hours: at least 15 must be Category A (CPME-approved); up to 5 may be Category B (home study, hospital lectures, medical society meetings). All licensees must include at least 1.5 hours of KASPER/pain management/addiction CE.
Are APMA-approved credits accepted in Kentucky?
Yes — APMA/CPME approved CME is the primary Category A credit type under 201 KAR 25:031 § 2(1)(b). The Kentucky Podiatric Medical Association's annual conference is also expressly recognized as a Category A source.
Are there mandatory CE topics for DPM renewal in Kentucky?
Yes — 1.5 hours of CE on KASPER (Kentucky's prescription drug monitoring program), pain management, or addiction disorders, required annually of every podiatrist regardless of DEA registration status. There are no other state-imposed mandatory topics. The federal MATE Act adds a one-time 8-hour SUD training for DEA registrants.
Where can I check my Kentucky podiatry license renewal date?
The Kentucky Board of Podiatry maintains licensure information at podiatry.ky.gov. Renewal applications and CE documentation are filed through the Board's office; Kentucky does not currently use CE Broker for podiatry.
