Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (MA BORN) accepts NBCRNA Class A and ANCC Contact Hour toward the CE requirement for CRNAs.

Documentation & audit

CRNAs are responsible for retaining CE documentation and producing it on request. Requirements include course title, dates, hours, sponsoring organization, and accrediting body.

Waivers & exemptions

New licensees are not required to submit evidence of continuing education for their first (current) registration period. The 15-hour biennial CE requirement effectively does not apply to the initial registration cycle.

Which board licenses CRNAs in Massachusetts?
The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (MA BORN) licenses CRNAs as APRNs under Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 112, § 80B. The credential is Massachusetts RN license plus APRN authorization with a CRNA designation.
How many state-level CE hours do Massachusetts CRNAs need?
Massachusetts RN CE is 15 contact hours per biennium. CRNAs satisfy this through NBCRNA recertification CE. APRN renewal additionally requires active NBCRNA certification.
Does Massachusetts require NBCRNA certification for CRNA licensure?
Yes. NBCRNA initial certification is required for APRN authorization, and active NBCRNA certification must be maintained for renewal.
