For CRNAs, 15 hours is the total CE requirement. Massachusetts also names specific topics that must be covered, and each one is listed below.
“applicants and licensees shall participate in at least one domestic violence and sexual violence training as a condition for licensure, renewal, revival or reinstatement of licensure.”
“applicants for **initial licensure** must complete a one-time course of training and education in the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with cognitive impairments, including, but not limited to, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.”
These rules apply only when the trigger described under each card is met (for example, holding a state-issued controlled substance registration or treating a specific patient population). Each cites the underlying statute or rule directly.
CRNAs engaging in prescriptive practice in Massachusetts
“If engaging in prescriptive practice, completion of training required pursuant to M.G.L. c. 94C, § 18(e).”
Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (MA BORN) accepts NBCRNA Class A and ANCC Contact Hour toward the CE requirement for CRNAs.
| Credit system | Notes |
|---|---|
NBCRNA Class A | NBCRNA Class A / MAC Ed credits qualify toward the underlying RN CE. |
ANCC Contact Hour | ANCC contact hours from accredited providers qualify. |
CRNAs are responsible for retaining CE documentation and producing it on request. Requirements include course title, dates, hours, sponsoring organization, and accrediting body.
New licensees are not required to submit evidence of continuing education for their first (current) registration period. The 15-hour biennial CE requirement effectively does not apply to the initial registration cycle.
Atlas CME tracks your hours, maps them to your state requirements, and reminds you before your license anniversary renewal.
Every mandatory topic and conditional requirement above cites the underlying statute or rule. Numbered references below correspond to the bracketed citations next to each requirement.
