FAQ
How many state-level CE hours do Michigan CRNAs need?
25 contact hours per biennium under Mich. Admin. Code R 338.10602, including at least 2 hours in pain and symptom management. Layered on top: 2 hours of implicit bias training per biennium (1 hour per year of the cycle), a one-time human trafficking training, and a one-time opioids/controlled substance awareness training for CRNAs who hold a controlled substance license. CRNAs satisfy most of the 25-hour total through NBCRNA recertification CE. APRN specialty certification renewal additionally requires active NBCRNA certification.
Does Michigan require NBCRNA certification for CRNA licensure?
Yes. NBCRNA initial certification is required for the APRN specialty certification, and active NBCRNA certification must be maintained for renewal.
Is Michigan part of the APRN Compact?
No. Michigan is not a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) and has not enacted the APRN Compact. CRNAs practicing in Michigan must hold Michigan-issued credentials.
Where can I check my Michigan CRNA license renewal date?
License status and verification are available through the LARA license search at michigan.gov/lara/bureau-list/bpl/health/hp-lic-search/license-search.
