FAQ
How many state-level CE hours do Ohio CRNAs need?
24 contact hours of continuing nursing education per biennial renewal, under Ohio Admin. Code 4723-8-10. CRNAs are explicitly NOT subject to the 12-hour advanced pharmacology requirement that applies to CNS/CNM/CNP designations.
Does Ohio require NBCRNA certification for CRNA licensure?
Yes. Ohio APRN-CRNA licensure requires current NBCRNA national certification. NBCRNA continuing education hours obtained for national certification maintenance can also be used to satisfy the Ohio 24-hour state CE total.
Is Ohio part of the APRN Compact?
No, Ohio has not enacted the APRN Compact as of April 2026. Ohio is, however, a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for the underlying RN license.
Where can I check my Ohio CRNA license renewal date?
Use the Ohio eLicense portal at https://elicense.ohio.gov/oh_communitieslicense or contact the Ohio Board of Nursing.
