How many state-level CE hours do Louisiana CRNAs need?
Louisiana uses an option-based RN/APRN rule under LAC tit. 46 § XLVII-3333: 30 board-approved contact hours of CE OR 900 practice hours per 2-year cycle. Most working CRNAs satisfy this via the practice-hours path. APRN renewal additionally requires active NBCRNA certification, and CRNAs who hold separate Louisiana Controlled Substance Authority must complete 12 pharmacotherapeutics hours per biennium (6 annually).
Does Louisiana require NBCRNA certification for CRNA licensure?
Yes. NBCRNA initial certification is required for APRN/CRNA licensure, and active NBCRNA certification must be maintained for renewal.
Is Louisiana part of the APRN Compact?
No. Louisiana has not enacted the APRN Compact as of 2026. Louisiana is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for the RN portion.
Where can I check my Louisiana CRNA license renewal date?
License status and verification are available through the LSBN verification page at lsbn.state.la.us/Verification.aspx.
