FAQ
How many CE hours do Nebraska podiatrists need?
48 hours every 2 years, due on or before April 1 of each even-numbered year, all of which must be CPME-approved. The rule is set verbatim in 172 NAC 143-005.01. Practice management programs and vendor-sponsored promotional content do not count (172 NAC 143-005.02).
Are APMA-approved credits accepted in Nebraska?
Yes. The 48 hours must be approved by the Council of Podiatric Medical Education (CPME). APMA-sponsored continuing education is generally CPME-approved and qualifies under 172 NAC 143-005.01.
Are there mandatory CE topics for DPM renewal in Nebraska?
172 NAC 143-005 does not impose topical mandates within the 48-hour base total. However, Neb. Rev. Stat. § 38-145(6) requires podiatrists who prescribe controlled substances to complete at least 3 hours of opioid prescribing CE biennially (including 0.5 hours on the Nebraska PDMP). This requirement sunsets January 1, 2029. Federal MATE Act training (one-time 8-hour SUD course) is also required for all DEA-registered podiatrists, enforced through DEA registration renewal.
